1. About this policy

This Cookie Policy explains how YieldRoof uses cookies and similar browser storage technologies on https://yieldroof.com. It should be read with the Privacy Policy, which describes the information processed through hosting and analytics services.

2. What cookies and similar technologies are

Cookies are small text records that a website or service stores in your browser. First-party cookies are associated with the website you visit; third-party services can provide scripts that set or read first-party cookies and receive related data. Cookies can remember a browser, maintain session state, measure activity, or support website features.

Browser storage technologies such as localStorage can also keep a value on your device. Unlike a cookie, localStorage is not automatically included with every web request. YieldRoof uses localStorage for the analytics consent choice described below.

3. Technologies currently used

Analytics consent storage

When production analytics is configured, YieldRoof displays a banner asking you to accept or decline analytics cookies. Your choice is stored in localStorage under yieldroof:analytics-consent. This value is used to remember whether the Google Analytics 4 script may load. It is not a calculator input, setting, or result and is not used for advertising.

Google Analytics 4

Analytics storage is denied by default. The external GA4 script is loaded only after you choose “Accept.” With consent, GA4 uses first-party cookies to distinguish browsers and sessions and sends usage information to Google. If you choose “Decline,” the external script is not loaded and GA4 cookies are not set by the YieldRoof implementation.

GA4 helps YieldRoof measure page views and general technical and usage information, such as session and device information and approximate location. Calculator inputs, settings, results, and calculator-specific interactions are not sent to GA4. The current site loads the Google tag directly and does not use a Google Tag Manager container.

After you consent, GA4 may set the _ga cookie and other analytics cookies whose names begin with _ga. How long these cookies remain can depend on Google Analytics configuration, browser settings, and changes made by Google. YieldRoof does not guarantee a particular retention period. See Google's GA4 cookie documentation for current provider information.

Hosting and necessary operation

The application source does not set its own strictly necessary cookies for accounts, payments, or calculator operation. Netlify provides hosting and may process ordinary request, security, and infrastructure information when delivering the site. Provider-side security measures can change independently of the application code.

4. Technologies not currently used

The current application source does not use sessionStorage, document.cookie calls, tracking pixels, embedded third-party content, advertising scripts, Google AdSense, or advertising cookies. It does not save calculator inputs, settings, or results in cookies, localStorage, sessionStorage, IndexedDB, a URL, or a user account.

YieldRoof will update this Cookie Policy and provide any required choices before introducing advertising cookies or other advertising technologies.

5. How to control cookies and storage

You can accept or decline analytics when the YieldRoof banner appears. To change a saved choice, clear cookies and site data for yieldroof.com in your browser and reload the website; the banner will appear again when analytics is available. You can then make a new choice.

Most browsers also let you view, block, or delete cookies and localStorage through privacy or site-data settings. Blocking or clearing analytics storage prevents or limits analytics measurement. Clearing the saved consent value causes YieldRoof to ask for your choice again. The calculators themselves do not require analytics cookies, although broad browser restrictions may affect other website behavior.

6. Third-party information

Google controls its processing of GA4 data and the behavior of its analytics technology. Review Google's Privacy Policy, Analytics privacy information. Netlify's infrastructure privacy practices are described in the Netlify Privacy Statement.

7. Changes and contact

This Cookie Policy may be updated when YieldRoof changes its browser storage, analytics, hosting, or other services, or when applicable requirements evolve. The current version will be posted here with a revised “Last updated” date.
